FAQ:
Build cost (parts only): about $1500
Motor: ADC shunt wound (separately excited)
Controller: Sevcon 300A
Motor and controller source: used, Ebay, about $550 for both
Top speed: about 40 mph
run time: 1 hour hard driving
charge time: 4-6 hours using 4 12v chargers, one per batt
weight: 325 lbs without driver
Q: "Can you make me one?"
A: Not for a price you'd be willing to pay. I've got a day job, and if I tried to make money doing this, I'd probably starve.
Q: "Then how can I get one?"
A: I'd recommend getting an existing gokart and converting it. The bolt-on and weld-on parts add up quickly, and an existing kart already has at least some of what you need. The better the frame you start with, the better the kart you'll have and chances are, the less work you'll need to do.
I've gotten a lot of questions about this and my other kart, and I try to answer them. Please read the comments, though - many questions have been asked and answered already. Thanks for looking!
