Makambo Why? - Zulu - Geoffrey Oryema - Red Shoe
Please Read: A story from the land of the Zulu in Africa. (NOTE: Some words in video spelled for effect or sound - as opposed to correct spelling.) Correct Artist and Source Information listed below. (To the extent possible.) Perhaps one of the most beautiful mood music songs in the world. While the actual lyrics are nearly impossible to interpret or translate - they cut across all language barriers and speak clearly to all peoples. Similarly the mood and the message of this song may be applied externally as it questions the human condition or internally for a mind bending, soul moving introspective look into the more personal matters of the heart. Either way it connects with the listener in a way that cannot be defined by mere words as it drips raw emotion and moves the soul. At the age of 24, at the height of Idi Amin's power, Oryema was smuggled across the Ugandan border in the trunk of a car, following the death of his father, cabinet minister Erinayo Wilson Oryema, beginning a life in exile. Today his songs keep alive the languages of his youth - Swahili and Acholi and lost country of Uganda. Oryema has collaborated with, amongst others, Peter Gabriel. Gabriel's record label, Real World, helped with the first three of Oryema's albums. He later moved to Sony, in France where Oryema resides. Besides his native languages, he also sings in English and French. A Truly Inspired Master. All of his music is highly recommended.
