Kid Rock - All Summer Long (Official Music Video & Lyrics) Kid Rock - All Summer Long Lyrics It was 1989, my thoughts were short my hair was long Caught somewhere between a boy and man She was seventeen and she was far from in-between It was summertime in Northern Michigan Ahh Ahh Ahh Ahh Ahh Ahh Splashing through the sand bar Talking by the campfire It's the simple things in life, like when and where We didn't have no internet But man I never will forget The way the moonlight shined upon her hair [Chorus:] And we were trying different things We were smoking funny things Making love out by the lake to our favorite song Sipping whiskey out the bottle, not thinking 'bout tomorrow Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long Catching Walleye from the dock Watching the waves roll off the rocks She'll forever hold a spot inside my soul We'd blister in the sun We couldn't wait for night to come To hit that sand and play some rock and roll While we were trying different things And we were smoking funny things Making love out by the lake to our favorite song Sipping whiskey out the bottle, not thinking 'bout tomorrow Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long Now nothing seems as strange as when the leaves began to change Or how we thought those days would never end Sometimes I'll hear that song and I'll start to sing along And think man I'd love to see that girl again [Repeat Chorus x2] Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long "All Summer Long" is the title of a song recorded by Kid Rock. It was released in 2008 as the third single from his ninth studio album Rock N Roll Jesus. The song uses samples of Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London" and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama" . The mashup was created by Mike E. Clark. It was also the theme song for WWE Backlash 2008. The song has been generally well received by the critics, citing it "as a massive summer hit". Manchester Evening News rated the song three out of five stars, commenting that the song "incorporates the swampy riffs, the distinctive guitar solo and gospel choirs effortlessly."[4] Digital Spy also gave the song three stars, but was more critical saying the song was "dumb and lazy".[5] The Critical Condition criticized the song's lyrics but said it nevertheless "casts a magical spell... like every Southern rock hit rolled into one." [6] Billboard praised the song's style adding that its lyrics "will make listeners nod and smile knowingly as they recall their own glory days."[7] Rolling Stone named the song as a "story of sexual awakening" adding "It's stirring stuff."[8] The 9513's Jim Malec gave the song a "thumbs up" as well. He felt that some of the lyrics were poorly written, and felt unfavorably about the sampling and production, in addition to stating "no way, no how... can this be called a country song." However, he called it essentially "the perfect summerr anthem" for the country genre, which he felt lacked a "fun" song. He also commended Kid Rock for "show[ing] some personality".
